Lovi Poe teams up with Rocco Nacino in the upcoming afternoon soap on GMA-7, “Yesterday’s Bride.”

Lovi and Rocco first teamed-up in the mini-series “Mistaken Identity” that aired August and September last year before “Eat Bulaga!” Now they will reunite in the project formerly titled “The Borrowed Wife.”

In Yesterday’s Wife, Lovi will play the title role while Rocco will be her leading man. It follows the story of a woman who figured in an accident on her way to her wedding. After months in coma, she will miraculously rise up to claim what’s hers.

Also in the series are Luis Alandy, Emilio Garcia, Ken Chan, Lou Sison, Raquel Villavicencio, Ara Mina, and Karel Marquez.

Directed by Gil Tejada, Jr., “Yesterday’s Wife” premieres October 29 on GMA Afternoon Prime.

With chemistry glowing and flowing smoothly between them, two of the hottest Kapuso stars Lovi Poe and Rocco Nacino are getting viewers’ attention for their performances in the on-going afternoon prime series “Yesterday’s Bride.”

Proof of this is the impressive ratings garnered by the show since it debuted last October 29. Having worked together in the past for the four-part TV special entitled “Mistaken Identity,” their acting naturally melts into each other, providing this latest drama series a strong footing which is maximizing its potential.

Herself describing her “Yesterday’s Bride” role as the “most quiet I have ever played”, Lovi as Andrea Manalo appears perfect for Rocco’s Justin Ramirez, which he, on the other hand, counts as his “first mature role.”

“I am used to playing independent and strong women. It’s different this time around, more of being the martyr-type. It’s challenging because there are adjustments in my attack, coming from strong female characters,” shares the actress who has been surprising audiences with her provocative performances in movies like “Sagrada Familia”, My Neighbor’s Wife,”"Aswang” and “Tiktik.”

In this series directed by Gil Tejada, Jr., Andrea, a simple, loving, blue-collar worker, and Justin, son of a wealthy couple who own a furniture factory where the former is employed, fall in love with each other and are headed for a dream wedding, only to be derailed by a tragedy of epic proportions.

A car accident postpones the scheduled wedding and sends Andrea to a hospital in a coma, with doctors finding out she is pregnant. Mysteriously the place is later gutted out by fire while she is still confined, giving Justin and family members surrounding them the impression that she died with it.

But fate, however, intervenes and she wakes up in time to escape from the fire and into the care of one Dr. Celso Agustin (Luis Alandy). As a result of these tragic sequences, she forgets her past and adopts a new name, Lorraine. She and the doctor fall for each other, but quickly finds herself in a dilemma when she recovers her memory and that of the groom she is supposed to marry.

Lovi adds, “It’s not that easy to create nuances for a new role. But this is where the excitement lies as it will definitely test your range as an actress.”

It took almost two years to find the right project for the re-teaming up of the Lovi-Rocco tandem, both of whom are belonging to the GMA Artist Center stable of talents. But it’s worth the wait as the series has been earning positive reactions from critics and fans. The former Second Prince Starstruck titlist, who previously acted with Kylie Padilla in the “Good Daughter,” is being noted for his convincing portrayal of the rich-good boy leading man figure. The Award winning actress/ Horror Movie Princess to her credit gets the compliment for her effective underacting.

“Yesterday’s Bride” also features Miss Ara Mina, Karel Marquez and Emilio Garcia as lead antagonists, while Mark Bautista plays a close friend of Dr. Agustin. It airs every Monday to Friday, after Eat Bulaga! on GMA-7.

Lovi Poe Cries after Doing a Love Scene with Paulo Avelino in ‘The Bride and the Lover’

Lovi Poe is currently filming the most daring movie of her career titled “The Bride and the Lover” which will co-star her with Paulo Avelino and Jennylyn Mercado.

After starring in two horror movies this year–”Guni-Guni” with Benjamin Alves and the box-office hit “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles” with Dingdong Dantes–Horror Princess Lovi Poe is slated to star in another thriller before the year ends. Her third horror movie for this year is “Shake Rattle and Role 14,” Regal Films’ entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival where she will co-star with Vhong Navarro.

But the Kapuso actress is not just for horror movies as she also have two drama offerings helmed by award-winning directors.

The first one is the Brillante Mendoza-artfilm “Thy Womb” (Tagalog title: “Sinapupunan”) where Lovi plays support to the one and only Superstar Nora Aunor. The said movie premiered at the 69th Venice International Festival in September where it won 3 critics awards. And last week, it was announced that “Thy Womb” became an official entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival.

The second drama movie that Lovi is currently filming is the controversial “The Bride and the Lover” which is slated to be shown on February 2013. The said movie is currently being dubbed as the “sexiest” and “most-daring” film that the three of its lead stars–Lovi with Paulo Avelino and Jennylyn Mercado–have ever made. It’s under the direction of Joel Lamangan.

During a pocket interview hosted by GMA Artist Center on Monday, November 20, at the 17th Floor of GMA Network Center, Starmometer and other members of the entertainment press were able to ask the “Yesterday’s Bride” star about this so-called “sexy drama” project that she’s currently filming.

Since “infidelity” has been a trending theme in Philippine cinema, does “The Bride and the Lover” follows this emerging genre?

“It’s not an affair film, it’s nothing like that,” Lovi clarified.

But is it a love triangle?

“Love triangle, oo, but then it’s about friendship din. Actually, basically it’s about knowing sino ba talaga ang dapat maging honest sa iyo ‘yung bestfriend mo? Sino ba dapat ang hindi mag-cheat sa ‘yo ‘yung bestfriend mo o ‘yung lover mo, parang ganun. Saan ka mas masasaktan, kapag ang nanloko sa ‘yo ‘yung bestfriend mo o ‘yung lover.”

So who’s who? Sino ang bestfriend, lover at bride?

“‘Yun ung twist ng story, you don’t know who’s the bestfriend, who’s the lover and who’s the bride. It’s up to you e, magkakaroon ng sariling perception ang viewers. Once you watched it, ‘yun ang maganda e, may sarili kang opinion at ikaw ang mamimili kung sino ‘yung lover and sino ‘yung the bride,” she replied.

Aside from the hard-hitting dialogues between Lovi and her female co-star Jennylyn Mercado, “The Bride and the Lover” will also highlight steamy love scenes between the Horror Princess and “Walang Hanggan” star Paulo Avelino.

In fact, in one love scene that they recently shot for the movie, Lovi broke into tears after doing it. In an interview by Chika Minute for 24 Oras, the Kapuso actress admitted that she cried after doing the love scene with Paulo because she did not expect that it’s going to be intense.

“Hindi ko siya kinaya talaga. Honestly I cried after. But then this one is just…Sabi ko nga after this movie I will rest muna from doing sexy…medyo naano ako, nabigla,” she said.

It’s interesting to note that it was in the 2009 movie “Sagrado Pamilya” where Lovi did her very first big screen love scene. However, it wasn’t her who cried after doing the scene but her partner Felix Roco.

Meanwhile, Lovi Poe is currently seen on GMA-7′s “Yesterday’s Bride” opposite Rocco Nacino. The much-talked about soap opera airs Monday to Friday, after Eat Bulaga!

Lovi Poe helps out: Behind the scenes of GMA News TV’s “Titser”

GMA News TV’s new original series “Titser,” which follows in the footsteps of Bayan Ko, is being shot like an indie film or documentary – with minimal lights, no air-conditioned tents or portalets, no special food for the artists.

LoviPoe Titser

TITSER’s leading lady Lovi Poe is deglamorized in this TV series about a smart barrio lass struggling to become a teacher but facing many obstacles along the way.

On set, Lovi has even been caught helping out the production crew, surprising everyone with her gung ho attitude. Here, she’s seen gathering tall grass to cover equipment cables – along with the rest of the “Titser” staff — so the shoot could commence quickly.

“Titser” is set to premiere on Sunday, August 4 on GMA News TV Channel 11. It will be preceded by a primer episode featuring behind the scenes footage and interviews, which will air on Sunday, July 28.

After “Love Bug” and “Yesterday’s Bride,” Rocco Nacino and Lovi Poe will team up for the third time in the upcoming primetime drama series on GMA-7, “Hanggang Ngayon.”

During a pocket presscon while bonding with his dad at the Elorde Gym in Julia Vargas Avenue, Ortigas last June 19, Rocco Nacino shared with the entertainment press that he is currently prepping up for his second primetime drama series titled “Hanggang Ngayon.”

The project marks the first time that he will be under the direction of Laurice Guillen and the third time that he will team up with Lovi Poe.

Rocco also revealed that actor/director Cesar Montano will return to GMA-7 to be part of the said project.

“It’s gonna to be a huge honor to be working with him [Cesar] talaga. First time kong makakatrabaho si Kuya Buboy,” he said.

That’s why the budding actor is preparing himself for “Hanggang Ngayon” which he considers a major project.

“Ngayon pa lang, di pa ako nag-start ng taping namin, tinawagan ko na ‘yung VP namin asking kung anong klaseng imaging ang gusto nila sa akin, anong klaseng character ang gusto nila para ngayon pa lang I can get into character. Kahit hindi pa ako kasama sa taping nagpaalam ako na gusto ko nang sumama sa taping nila kahit ‘yung mga bata pa lang para mapagaralan ko na,”

Rocco admitted that he’s a little nervous working with Cesar Montano and director Laurice Guillen plus the pressure of being given a primetime project.

“It’s my second primetime, pa lang. So feeling ko first pa rin siya so nar’on pa rin ‘yung kaba. Kumbaga I feel I’ll be working in a new field kasi nasanay ako ng laging hapon e. So more pressure, I’ll be working with new people kaya mas dagdag kaba and di lang basta basta new people, very high caliber actors and director so I need to step up my game.”

Rocco and Lovi will be joined in the primetime series with the newest Kapuso Charee Pineda and “it” girl Solenn Heusaff.

Aside from “Hanggang Ngayon,” Rocco is also doing season 2 of the GMA News TV original series “Bayan Ko,” the Cinemalaya entry “Burgos,” and the film adaptation of the classic Filipino novel “Ibong Adarna.”

Lovi Poe Returns to Primetime with ‘Akin Pa Rin ang Bukas’

Lovi Poe on her role as an illegitimate daughter who struggles for acceptance in GMA Network’s newest primetime drama ‘Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas’: “Medyo nakaka-relate ako kay Lovella.”

Akin

“‘Yung character ko as Lovella, malayo s’ya sa mga characters that I’ve played before. Katulad na lang kay Natasha sa Legacy, usually palaban kasi yung characters na pino-portray ko.” Ang tinutukoy ni Lovi ay ang primetime serye kung saan ang role n’ya ay isang spoiled brat.

“This time, ibang Lovi ang makikita dahil she knows her rights pero she’s kind of weak sometimes,” kwento ng Kapuso actress. “Pero eventually, matututo rin s’ya lumaban,” dugtong niya.

Hindi naman lingid sa karamihan na hindi nalalayo ang kwento ng buhay ni Lovi sa role na kayang gaganapan. Anak si Lovi ng legendary actor Fernando Poe Jr. kay Rowena Moran. “Medyo nakaka-relate ako kay Lovella dahil we practically had the same phases siguro na pinagdaanan. But then, knowing her rights, knowing when to fight, parehas kami when choosing our battles,” pag-amin ni Lovi.

It’s sometimes very sad kasi maraming makakarelate dito,” malungkot na kwento ng dalaga. “It’s just like opening old wounds,” dagdag pa niya.

“Masaya yung set namin, everyone’s really game. Kahit seryoso ‘yung mga tao, may time para magkulitan. And I think it’s very important para mabuo yung chemistry naming lahat,” saad ni Lovi.

First time maka-trabaho ni Lovi sina Gloria Romero at Cesar Montano. “Medyo nakaka-intimidate nga s’ya because he’s a very good actor at dati pinapanood ko lang s’ya. I’m just really glad to share the screen with him,” ayon sa aktres.

“I wanna play a psycho girl. I wanna play that kind of character. Medyo dark yung gusto ko para iba naman. Or isang babae na may split personality, parang ganon. I think it’s very challenging.
